Beta of the New HTML5 App Builder

In early October, we released the beta version of our new app builder, implemented entirely with HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS. This is the first time anyone has created a tool for building apps just using browser technologies. This enables us to provide a much smoother user experience while still providing all the power needed to build great apps. This basis for the builder will also allow us to make improvements to the builder much faster.

Please give it a try. During the beta phase, click the "More create options" link from the Apps page and then check the "Open in new (beta) app builder" option in order to create a new project in the new app builder. Read this article for more information about using the new builder. As you use the beta, send us your feedback (via e-mail or the forum).

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Any existing projects will only open in the current Flash builder
  • Any new projects, once created in the new builder, will only open in the new builder

Build Windows 8 Apps

Our new app builder comes with an awesome new feature: Windows 8 app support. Using the same powerful drag-and-drop approach as for other types of apps in Tiggzi, you can build Windows 8 apps for tablets or desktops with native Windows 8 support. This support includes cool Windows 8 capabilities such as Snap View, Search Charm, Share Charm, and Live Tile! To create a new Windows 8 app, click the "More create options" link from the Apps page and then select Windows 8 App as the app type.

We've added a step-by-step tutorial on building a simple Windows 8 app. During the beta period, we'll be adding tutorials about using more advanced Windows 8 features.
